Ranking as the world's 12th largest apparel brand - larger than Faded Glory, Benetton and Banana Republic, Disney Apparel, Accessories and Footwear utilizes the extensive vault of Disney content to create unique product for the young and young at heart.

Named among the top 100 fashion brands by Women's Wear Daily, Disney continues to set trends in the fashion industry, through the launch of various clothing lines at leading retailers — beginning with Disney Vintage, a line of t-shirts and leisure clothing for adults inspired by vintage Mickey Mouse and Disney Princess artwork. The successful line garnered the interest of high-fashion designers Dolce & Gabbana which led to a new line of studded shirt designs with new iterations of Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Daisy. In 2004, the Disney Couture apparel line was introduced featuring a fashion-forward knit-top collection using characters from Bambi and Alice in Wonderland. To date, Disney Couture has expanded beyond t-shirts into accessories, sleepwear, and toddlerwear.

Disney fashions are found in trendsetting retailers across the globe, including Fred Segal in the US, Loveless in Japan and Beams in Europe. Disney continues to forge relationships with hot clothing brands, like Japanese label, Hysteric Glamour; UK based, Religon; contemporary fashion label Petro Zillia and renowned handbag designer Judith Lieber.

Additionally, Disney Apparel entered the luxury infant market in 2006 with the launch of high-end infant lines, Classic Disney and Walt Disney Signature. Featuring elegant, understated designs in fine fabrications such as cashmere, the lines can be found at upscale retailers in North America such as Bloomingdales, Nordstrom and Saks Fifth Avenue respectively. In Japan and Europe, Disney Apparel introduced Disney Ink and Paint Kids — the popular line was first launched for adults in Europe. With a successful launch in the UK and expansion into Japan, Disney Jeans, a non-character, Disney-branded line of apparel for kids that incorporates Disney's unique brand of magic and storytelling, will soon launch in the U.S. at upscale retailers and specialty boutiques.

Disney has also expanded its presence in the footwear market by collaborating with up-and-coming brands such as Crocs and by developing new licensing business models with leading retailers such as Payless Shoes. Through these efforts, the Disney Apparel group continues to enhance the Disney experience further positioning Disney as a lifestyle brand.

Disney Apparel, Accessories, and Footwear is also a leader in forging direct-to-retail relationships with global retailers resulting in a custom iteration of Disney products for an individual retailer's target consumer. Under the direct-to-retail model, Disney licenses its content to select retailers globally, rather than to third-party manufacturers and distributors. Retailers then source and manufacture products directly for sale exclusively through all channels of their retail outlets. Direct-to-retail relationships offer several advantages, including improved margins, greater marketing and merchandising support from retailers and a dramatic improvement in apparel price to value for consumers.
